PREDICTING BANKRUPTCY OF COMPANIES: EVIDENCE FROM GHANAIAN LISTED BANKS

Purpose: The study assessed the performances of Ghanaian banks in terms their liquidity, solvency and profitability by applying financial ratios on published audited statements further predicted bankruptcy selected with application Altman Z-model for Ghana Stock Exchange.
 Methodology: Data gathered was analyzed using leverage as well Z-score. Current ratio quick were used to assess liquidity banks. Additionally, debt asset equity utilized find out Whereas, return assets employed examine Finally, working capital assets, retained earnings before tax market value liabilities determine Z-scores.
 Results: Findings revealed that liquid positions below expectations. As far concerned, findings sector is highly leveraged. Analysis position showed are fairly profitable profit averages above industry. Again, Z-score model all except one corporate distress standard be safe zone thus, likely declare bankrupt.
